Meet Dr Aarti Lakshmanan

Dr Aarti Lakshmanan is a trusted GP in Lonehill with a passion for surgery, offering patients a unique blend of general practice and surgical expertise. She brings over a decade of experience in general surgery, half of which was spent in a military hospital, with the remaining time spent completing registrar training in general surgery. She provides high-quality care that bridges medical management with minor and moderate procedures, specialised consultations, and selected hepatobiliary, liver, and pancreatic conditions.

Her path into medicine was driven by a simple but powerful reason: to make a difference. That commitment deepened as she trained in surgical practice, where mastering intricate skills meant restoring health, confidence, and quality of life. From early on, her journey was shaped by the influence of her father’s surgical skill and mentorship, as well as her mother’s unwavering belief in her perseverance and potential. These foundations continue to guide her approach to care.

Dr Lakshmanan holds a Doctor of Medicine degree and brings more than a decade of intensive training in general surgery, with experience in trauma and critical care. Her qualifications include a Diploma in Basic Maternal Sonography, a Postgraduate Certificate in Neurological Sleep Disorders in Adults, and a Diploma in Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery. With this additional training, she is equipped to diagnose and treat certain conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, and biliary tract.

She has also completed her Master’s in Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, further strengthening her expertise in the assessment and management of selected liver, pancreas, and biliary conditions. She has completed Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC) training and presented her research internationally at the 2023 e-AHPBA Congress in Lyon, France. She has also completed numerous congresses in Surgery and postgraduate courses in Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery.

Outside her role as a surgically focused doctor, Dr Lakshmanan enjoys reading, yoga, meditation, and travel; habits that bring perspective and mindfulness to her medical work.
